March 22, 2026: Data Source Labels Across the ZAP
March 22nd, 2026 by Chantel Boshears
We’ve completed the rollout of Data Source labels across key surfaces of the ZAP, improving visibility into where patient data originates. This helps clinicians quickly understand whether data is their own (called "first-party"), sourced from the networks (called "third-party"), or from another Zus-connected practice.
Background
Data provenance was not consistently visible across history cards and drawers, making it difficult to identify the source of aggregated clinical data.
What’s New
Data Source labeling
We now display a Data Source label with the following logic:
-
First-party data - data from your organization
- Shows your organization name
- Falls back to “1st Party Data” if the underlying FHIR Data is without a managing organization.
-
Third-party data - data sourced from the networks
- Shows managing organization and network source
- Main Street Health (Commonwell)
- Falls back to network only
- Surescripts
- Shows managing organization and network source
-
Zus Network data
- Shows contributing practice and network source which in this case is Zus
- Main Street Health (Zus Network)
- Shows contributing practice and network source which in this case is Zus
Where This Appears
- Condition, medication, and allergy history cards which are present as lists in the side drawer
- Diagnostic, immunization, and care team side drawers
